Ricardo Rodriguez has revealed he was destined to stay at German side Wolfsburg this summer amid interest from the Premier League.
The Switzerland international has long been linked with a move to Arsenal, while Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was reportedly keen to sign the Wolfsburg left-back.
However, Rodriguez ignored any interest in the summer to remain with the Bundesliga club as the 24-year-old didn’t think it was the right time to leave.
“I guess it was just meant to be this way. God wanted it this way,” Rodriguez told Swiss newspaper Blick, via Sky Sports.
“You just need the right timing for a transfer and it’s a fact that during this transfer window, there were hardly any transfers of players in my position.”
Only four left-backs has attempted more crosses in the last three Bundesliga campaigns than Rodriguez (111).
