Chelsea Injury News: Will Cole Palmer be fit to face Arsenal?
Chelsea host Arsenal on Sunday afternoon in a monster London derby to round off the Premier League action ahead of the international break. The question on everyone’s lip, however – Will Cole Palmer be fit to play against the Gunners?
Palmer sustained a knock in last week’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United having been on the receiving end of a nasty Lisandro Martinez challenge. The England international missed the resounding 8-0 win over FC Noah on Thursday night, though that was to be expected with Palmer not included in Chelsea’s Conference League group stage squad.
The Blues made light work of FC Noah but attention turns to Arsenal and whether or not Palmer will be fit to feature. The 22-year-old is key for Chelsea having already scored seven goals and provided five assists in his second season at Stamford Bridge.
Palmer lit up west London in his debut campaign at the Blues and supporters are hoping he’ll be fit to play this weekend. With Arsenal struggling for form having fallen to a 1-0 loss at Inter in midweek – the defeats means the Gunners have won only one of their last six on their travels, that coming at lower league opposition Preston – Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca will be keen to recover the youngster this weekend.

Maresca, though, delivered a promising update on Maresca in his press conference on Friday. "Cole is getting better, but because he can walk and have dinner doesn’t mean he is completely fit," the Italian ahead of the Arsenal game.
"He is getting better and we still have two days to prepare for the game. Hopefully, we can have him for a session – at least on Saturday – and then we take a decision."
Palmer has been hugely influential for Chelsea this season, so his absence against Arsenal would be a huge blow. Maresca’s side, who may also be without Jadon Sancho on Sunday, come into this one level on points with the Gunners.
This game will be shown live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League on Sunday 10th September and kicks off at 4:30pm.
