Brazilian striker Neymar insists he has no interest in reports linking him with a world-record move to Manchester United and that he is keen to stay at Barcelona, according to the Sun on Sunday.
Neymar, 24, has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in the last week as Louis van Gaal seeks the marquee signing that can transform his side into genuine title contenders.
However, the United boss has been dealt another blow after the Brazil international played down reports he could be about to leave the La Liga champions.
“I want to stay in Barca despite the multimillion offers from England,” Neymar is quoted as saying in the Sun on Sunday.
“I don’t know anything about Manchester, I am outside all this and don’t listen to it. I am happy in Barcelona and the fans of Barca can be calm.
Reports suggested United were willing to meet Neymar’s £130m release clause before the transfer window shuts on Tuesday, but this would now seem unlikely.
Their interest, however, is understandable. Since joining the La Liga champions from Santos for £58m in 2013, only four players have had a direct hand in more of their team’s goals than Neymar (46).
