Madrid to buy-back Morata to sell to Premier League side

Real Madrid intend to buy back Alvaro Morata from Juventus and sell the striker to Arsenal in the summer, according to AS, via The Independent.

Morata, 23, joined Juventus from Madrid for €20m (£15.8m) in July 2014 and the Spain international only recently penned a new four-year deal with Max Allegri’s side.

However, Madrid can exercise a £23.6m buy-back clause between a specific two-week period, which is reportedly between 1 and 15 July in either 2016 or 2017.

Zinedine Zidane’s side are widely expected to take up the option to buy Morata back after the Euros this summer but with the intention to sell him on for even more money, with Arsenal among those to have expressed an interest in the Spaniard.

Morata endured a quiet start to this season and is behind Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic in the pecking order at Juventus, although injuries have afforded him game time in recent weeks and he has flourished.

He was unplayable against Bayern Munich at times in the Champions League earlier this month, in one of the finest individual performances in Europe this season.

In fact, Morata scored as many goals in 58 minutes against Torino at the weekend that in his previous 548 minutes across all competitions combined (2).
