AC Milan sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli has reached out to Alvaro Morata’s representatives about a summer switch from Real Madrid, reports Sky Italia, via AS.
Morata has been heavily linked with a move away from the Bernabeu for the second time in his career after struggling to establish himself as a first-team regular under Zinedine Zidane this season.
The Spain international is widely expected to move to the Premier League should he be given the greenlight to leave Madrid, but Serie A giants Milan have now emerged as the latest suitors for his signature.
Milan are expected to be one of the busiest Italian teams in the summer transfer window after finally completing their takeover with Chinese investors, although it remains to be seen whether Morata views a return to Italy, where he spent two years at Juventus, high on his priorities.
Despite not being a first-team regular, Morata has been a regular contributor for Madrid when called upon this season and his goal return suggests perhaps he should be above Karim Benzema in the pecking order.
Only Cristiano Ronaldo (20) has scored more La Liga goals for Madrid this season than Morata (13), while only Lionel Messi requires fewer minutes per goal (1 every 77.6 minutes) in Spain’s top-flight this season than the Madrid forward (1 every 89.5 minutes).
