Spanish giants Real Madrid will rival Manchester United in the race to sign highly rated midfielder Paul Pogba, reports La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The France international has been strongly linked with a move away from Juventus this summer, with former club United prepared to spend £100m to bring him back to Old Trafford.
Real Madrid manager and Pogba’s compatriot Zinedine Zidane is also a huge fan of the 23-year-old, who gained a better WhoScored rating (7.81) than any other player in Serie A last season.
Both teams will supposedly lodge official bids for Pogba as soon as Sunday’s European Championship final, which pits Portugal against hosts France, draws to a close.
Juventus are understandably keen to retain the services of their prized asset, but could be powerless to deny the player a move should the Frenchman signal his intentions to depart for pastures new.
The same paper suggests that the player’s agent, Mino Raiola, is pushing for Pogba to move to United, having successfully negotiated moves for clients Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Old Trafford already this summer.
