Ramos confirms formal offer from Premier League giants

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has revealed there was a formal offer from Manchester United and he did consider it.

Ramos, 30, was heavily linked with a move away from the Bernebau last summer after falling out with club president Florentino Perez before eventually resolving their differences and penning a new five-year contract extension.

The Spain international hasn’t struggled with form and fitness at times this season at Madrid, but it could have been different had he taken United’s offer.

“Yes,” Ramos responded to whether United made a serious formal offer in writing in an interview with Spanish outlet AS. “At one point I did think about making a change, but at the end of the day my priority has always been Real Madrid and I thought about a change for other reasons.

“No, not tricked,” Ramos added when asked about his relationship with the board. “Maybe a little disappointed during that time, but all of those problems were resolved and everyone’s happy, but it wasn’t an economic issue like some people made out.”
