Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has revealed the club will not contest Moussa Sissoko’s violent conduct charge.
Sissoko, 27, was involved in an altercation with Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter in the second half of Tottenham’s 0-0 draw with the Cherries on Saturday.
The France international was caught on video elbowing Arter, which went unpunished by the match officials. However, the Football Association have already charged Sissoko with violent conduct and he is now likely to be hit with a three-match ban after Pochettino confirmed they would not appeal the case.
“We accept that. We have reviewed the video. We accept the charge and now we move forward,” Pochettino told Sky Sports.
“After the game it was difficult when I was asked about the action. It was true that it was difficult for me to appreciate the situation of what happened. But when I saw it on TV I need to say there was no intention but the elbow was in the face of Arter, that’s clear.
“We accept the charge, and now we need to move forward, and expect a three-match ban.”
Sissoko has made a positive impact at Tottenham since making the £30m switch from Newcastle in the summer. The versatile midfielder will now, however, miss their League Cup clash with Liverpool on Tuesday, as well as league matches against Leicester and Arsenal.
In the last four Premier League campaigns only three players have attempted more dribbles than Sissoko (439).
