Chelsea keen on Tottenham star

Real Madrid will face competition from Chelsea and Barcelona for Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen, claims AS.

Eriksen will only have 12 months left to run on his current Tottenham deal at the end of the current campaign and is unlikely to renew with Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Unless something changes between now and the summer, Tottenham will likely be forced to cash in on the Denmark international or risk losing him for nothing in 2020.

Eriksen is understood to be keen on the idea of joining Madrid and Santiago Solari’s side have reportedly earmarked him as Luka Modric’s long-term replacement.

However, it has now emerged that both Barcelona and Chelsea are also monitoring Eriksen’s future at Tottenham, though it will be difficult for the latter to sign him.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is notoriously difficult to negotiate with and will do everything in his power to prevent Eriksen from joining one of their fiercest rivals.

Having spent six years at Tottenham, it would also be a surprise if the 26-year-old risked ruining his relationship with the club and its supporters by pushing to join Chelsea.

Nevertheless, Madrid can expect stiff competition from Barcelona and Eriksen would certainly fit in well at Camp Nou.

Since August 2016, Eriksen has registered more assists than any other player in the Premier League (34).
