Everton to step up interest in United outcast

Everton will look to sign Manchester United outcast Memphis in January after losing club record signing Yannick Bolasie for the rest of the season through injury, reports The Daily Mail.

Bolasie, 27, requires knee surgery after suffering anterior cruciate ligament damage during Everton’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Sunday and will miss the rest of the season as a result.

Ronald Koeman expressed an interest in signing Memphis during the last international break, much to the displeasure of United boss Jose Mourinho, and the Toffees could look to take advantage of the situation in January with the Netherlands international struggling to make any impact at the club.

Memphis, 22, has fallen completely out of favour under Mourinho this season and looks destined to leave Old Trafford after failing to settle following his £25m move from PSV Eindhoven last year.

The Dutchman is determined to be a success at Old Trafford but is reportedly open to a loan move to Everton in the New Year in a bid to get his career back on track.

Of players to have started at least 10 games in the Premier League since the start of last season, only Kelechi Iheanacho (every 19.1 mins) has been dispossessed of possession more times than Memphis (every 21 mins).
