Manchester United remain keen to bolster their defence with Jose Fonte and Fabinho before the transfer window closes, reports the Daily Record.
Fonte has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks, though Southampton are hopeful of retaining the services of their captain.
Fabinho, meanwhile, would add competition to right-back, with the position currently occupied by Antonio Valencia.
However, any deal for the duo is dependent on at least two senior players being shown the Old Trafford exit door in the coming days.
Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo have both been linked with moves away from the club of late and manager Jose Mourinho is hoping to cash in on the pair in order to bring in Fonte and Fabinho.
