Paris Saint-Germain favourites for Tottenham outcast

Paris Saint-Germain have leapfrogged Juventus in the race for Tottenham left-back Danny Rose, claims The Sun.

Rose has been left behind from Tottenham’s pre-season tour of Asia in order to find a new club for next season.

Tottenham have already sold Kieran Trippier to Atletico Madrid this summer and are also keen to offload Rose.

The England international has not been the same since suffering a serious knee injury in 2017 and is now deemed surplus to requirements by Mauricio Pochettino.

Juventus and PSG are both on the market for a new left-back this summer and have earmarked Rose, who is valued at £20m, as a potential transfer target.

Tottenham are in talks to sign Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham and his arrival will pave the way for Rose to leave, with PSG favourites over Juventus.

The 29-year-old was once linked with a £50m move to Manchester United during Jose Mourinho’s time at Old Trafford.

However, Rose’s reputation has dipped in recent years and Tottenham are now only holding out for a fee in the region of £20m.

Rose only started 20 league matches for Tottenham last season and returned a WhoScored rating of just 6.84.

Tottenham actually had a superior win ratio in the Premier League in 2018/19 when Rose started (65%) compared to when he did not feature from the off (55.6%).
