Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas insists star striker Alexandre Lacazette will not be leaving the French club in the forseable future.
Lacazette has been regularly mooted with a move to the Premier League since the end of last season and was reportedly subject of a bid from Newcastle United at the start of the window.
The France international’s struggles this season had led some to suggest Lyon would cash in on their star asset, but Aulas insists Lyon are not looking to part ways with the highly rated 24-year-old anytime soon.
“He will be here for some time because Lyon cannot do without players of his ability,” Aulas is quoted as saying by the London Evening Standard.
“I am confident that he will return to his highest level and I have a feeling he will be the first goalscorer in the new stadium.”
At this stage last season Lacazette already had 17 league goals to his name, compared to just a measly six in return this time around.
