Arsenal could target Manchester United outcast as Mbappe alternative
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will sound out a move for Manchester United winger Anthony Martial should the Gunners fail in a bid to sign Monaco sensation Kylian Mbappe, reports the Mail on Sunday.
Mbappe has attracted widespread interest across the continent on the back of a stunning season with Monaco, with his 15 goals and eight assists helping fire the French outfit to their first Ligue 1 title since 2000.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for the France international, but face competition from the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in the race to secure his services.
Should the north London side miss out on the 18-year-old, then Wenger could turn his attention to United forward Martial in a bid to improve his wide attacking options.
Martial’s future at Old Trafford remains uncertain, with the Frenchman registering just 18 league starts under Jose Mourinho last season.
The Portuguese boss is not a big fan of the 21-year-old and could look to sell the speedster this summer to help fund a move for Ivan Perisic.
His availability would certainly attract Wenger, who is a keen admirer of the former Monaco star.
Martial, Shaw, Rashford are getting the boot, you just know it.
@What4 - Good, at least they'll be at a club which doesn't squander young talent.
