Arsenal face competition from England for Morata

Manchester United have entered the race to sign Juventus striker Alvaro Morata and are ready to fend off competition from Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain for his signature, reports The Guardian.

Morata has been heavily linked with a move away from Juventus and is reportedly keen on a switch to the Premier League despite the fact the Serie A champions want to retain his services next season.

However, Max Allegri’s side are ultimately powerless to keeping Morata and Real Madrid have reportedly already activated their £23.6m buy-back clause on the Spain international and now looking to sell him on to anyone that will match their £40m valuation.

Arsenal have been regularly linked with a move for the 23-year-old and could step up their long-standing interest in the striker following news Danny Welbeck will be sidelined for the next nine months.

However, Arsene Wenger’s side can now expect to face competition from Manchester United and PSG, who are both expected to revamp their offensive options in the summer.

Morata has been limited to just 16 starts and a further 17 appearances from the substitutes’ bench this season. Despite finding first team opportunities hard to come by, Morata has still weighed in with a direct hand in 13 league goals (seven goals, six assists) this season.
