Arsenal star in no rush to sign new deal

Mesut Ozil has revealed he is in no rush to sign a new deal at Arsenal, but remains happy at the club.

The Germany World Cup winner’s current deal is due to expire in 2018 and is currently enjoying the best form of his Arsenal career.

Arsenal are understandably thought to be keen on securing his long-term services, but Ozil says isn’t thinking about committing his future just yet.

“There is no rush to sign a new contract,” Ozil told Kicker. “My current deal runs until 2018. That is still two-and-a-half years. There are no talks at the moment.

“I can only say that I am very happy in London. My decision to leave Real Madrid for Arsenal was the right one.

“There has not been a single day, apart from whenever I was injured, that I did not feel great here.”

Ozil’s form has been instrumental to Arsenal’s superb run of form this season. In fact, the Arsenal No.11 has registered at least six more assists than any other player across Europe’s top five leagues this season (15) and looks set to break Thierry Henry’s record for assists in a single Premier League campaign (20).
