Gareth Bale has placed Premier League clubs on red alert after being left devastated by Rafa Benitez’s departure as Real Madrid manager, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Benitez was building the Madrid team around the world’s most expensive player, who was going to be given the central role he craves long-term.
However, Bale’s status in the team now remains uncertain - placing the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea on high alert - and the Welshman will seek to clarify his position with new boss Zinedine Zidane.
The 26-year-old has been regularly linked with a return to the Premier League since making the switch from Tottenham in September 2013 but has never personally shown any signs of wanting to return and is relishing life in the Spanish capital.
Although this could all change if Zidane undermines his status at the club and there will be plenty of interested parties in the Premier League if he becomes available on the transfer market at the end of the season.
Bale has scored five goals and registered two assists in his last three matches for Madrid, being named the WhoScored man of the match in each of those matches.
