Victor Lindelof has agreed to sign a new deal with Benfica to allow the Portuguese giants to sell the centre-back to Manchester United for €50m (£42.7m), reports Ojogo.
United have been heavily linked with a move for the Sweden international in the last month as Jose Mourinho looks to strengthen his defence ahead of the second half of the season.
Benfica have always maintained the desire to sell Lindelof for far more than his current €30m (£25.6m) release clause and have made a breakthrough in discussions with United in order to secure more money in his sale.
Lindelof reportedly returned from his break with his family in Sweden earlier this week in order to pen the new terms, which should now allow the versatile defender to complete his switch to United at the start of next month.
No defender has completed more accurate passes in the Portuguese Liga Nos this season than Lindelof (747).

50m euros? For an unproven cb? If United has any sense they'd go for either van Dijk or laporte who are definately better than this Swede.
@Big_Boss Do you even know what Laporte's release clause is? 65 million euro. I think Virgil's is only 25 million pound, seems reasonable but there must be some reason we are not after him. I doubt this kid is worth the fee but here's to hoping he surprises us like Bailly has. Sure Bailly did well, TOTS in La Liga and all, but I still think he's exceeded expectations so far in his defending but also with his quality on the ball.
@soccerisfootbal Victor Lindelof is a gamble since he is unproven and doesn't have leadership qualities. The only man utd cb with some leadership is Smalling, but he is not 1st eleven material. I really wonder what the reason could be for not going for van dijk whos price is not 25m but more in the 50m range which is decent for the best cb in the league.
