Team News

Rangers
St. Mirren
  • Rangers boss Philippe Clement made two changes from the Gers' sole goal defeat to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park, before they bounced back to beat Romanian outfit FCSB at Ibrox in their Europa League match in midweek.
  • Jack Butland continued in goal behind a back four of James Tavernier, John Souttar, Leon Balogun - who took Robin Pröpper's place - and Jefte. Nicolas Raskin replaced Mohamed Diomande in midfield, to partner Connor Barron.
  • Tom Lawrence, who netted the opener on Thursday night, started alongside Nedim Bajrami and Vaclav Cerny - who bagged a brace against Bucharest - in support of Cyriel Dessers up front. Hamza Igamane scored off the bench so could start against Saints on Sunday.
  • St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson made three changes after Saints lost 1-0 to Dundee United in Paisley prior to the international break, before the Buddies were beaten 4-0 by Hearts at Tynecastle on Saturday afternoon.
  • Scott Tanser came back into the Buddies backline, replacing Richard Taylor, to accompany Charles Dunne, Alex Gogic and Marcus Fraser in front of Ellery Balcombe.
  • Roland Idowu and Caolan Boyd-Munce made way for Oisin Smyth to start alongside Mark O'Hara and Killian Phillips in midfield. The incoming Greg Kiltie looked to support Kevin van Veen and Toyosi Olusanya in attack.

Prediction

  • Rangers and St Mirren meet at Ibrox on Sunday afternoon, with both sides looking to put their disappointing defeats in the Scottish Premiership last weekend behind them.
  • Saturday's draw between the top two teams, Celtic and Aberdeen, at Celtic Park proved the perfect scenario for Rangers to close the gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership table. However, defeat to Kilmarnock means that the Gers trail both by six points at this early stage of the season. Before taking on the Dons at Pittodrie in midweek, it's imperative that they beat the Buddies.
  • St Mirren spurned the chance of recording consecutive top-flight victories over Hearts for the first time since September 1988, after beating the Jambos 2-1 in Paisley last month, as their away day woes continued. The Buddies have now won just one of their last eleven away league games, a 3-1 victory over Dundee at Dens Park in May, so they're certainly up against it this weekend.
  • Rangers were rampant against the Romanians on Thursday night, so will be hopeful that they can sweep aside St Mirren before a huge duel with the Dons at Pittodrie on Wednesday night.
