Havertz leads Premier League Team of the Week dominated by Newcastle

 

As we edge closer and closer to the end of the Premier League season with another weekend of action now behind us, we’ve taken a look at the standout performers from gameweek 35. Represented in our Team of the Week are Burnley, Newcastle, Tottenham, Everton, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal. 

 

Arijanet Muric (Burnley) - 8.10 

 

For the second successive weekend, Burnley’s Arijanet Muric was the Premier League’s best rated goalkeeper. This time around, the Kosovan put in a fine performance at Old Trafford to help the Clarets to a valuable point. In all, Muric made a total of nine saves on his way to a WhoScored rating of 8.10 

 

Tino Livramento (Newcastle) - 7.38 

 

Newcastle full-back Tino Livramento came in for his 10th league start of the season as the Magpies thrashed Sheffield United 5-1 at St James’ Park on Saturday. The 21-year-old made three tackles, two interceptions, three clearances and three key passes contributing to a WhoScored rating of 7.38. 

 

Cristian Romero (Tottenham) - 7.80 

 

Despite defeat to North London rivals Arsenal on Sunday, Tottenham’s Cristian Romero earns a place in our Team of the Week after his performance. The Argentina international won five aerial duels, made four tackles, two clearances and two blocks, while he also capitalised on a David Raya error to get his side back in the game with 64 minutes on the clock. 

 

James Tarkowski (Everton) - 7.69 

 

Everton made it three victories and three clean sheets in a row with Saturday’s 1-0 win over Brentford at Goodison Park, and crucial to that defensive effort was James Tarkowski, who earns a place in a third successive Team of the Week. The 31-year-old centre-back won a total of seven aerial duels and made a whopping 11 clearances to return a WhoScored rating of 7.69. 

 

Andy Robertson (Liverpool) - 8.16 

 

Scotland international Andy Robertson netted his second league goal of the season in Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with West Ham on Saturday afternoon. The 30-year-old also made a tackle, an interception and five key passes to take home a WhoScored rating of 8.16. 

 

Noni Madueke (Chelsea) - 8.71 

 

22-year-old Chelsea attacker Noni Madueke both scored and assisted in a Premier League match for the first time this season when he ignited a second-half Blues comeback against Aston Villa on Saturday evening. The England U21 international found the net with a fine effort after 63 minutes, before providing the assist for Conor Gallagher’s 81st-minute equaliser. 

 

Havertz leads Premier League Team of the Week dominated by Newcastle

 

Bruno Guimaraes (Newcastle) - 8.38 

 

Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes bagged his fifth league goal of the season in Saturday’s rout of Sheffield United, finding the net with one of his four attempts on goal that afternoon. The Brazilian also made two tackles, two interceptions, two key passes and four successful dribbles to earn a WhoScored rating of 8.38. 

 

Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United) - 8.25 

 

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes was unable to extend his Premier League scoring streak to five consecutive matches, but remained a constant threat against Burnley on Saturday. The Portugal international made a total of nine key passes for the second match in a row, while he also fired off three shots on goal to help himself to a WhoScored rating of 8.25. 

 

Anthony Gordon (Newcastle) - 8.66 

 

Anthony Gordon continued his impressive season for Newcastle by adding to his tally of goal involvements against Sheffield United on Saturday. The 23-year-old provided the assist for Bruno Guimaraes’ 54th-minute finish, while he also made three key passes and three successful dribbles to post a WhoScored rating of 8.66. 

 

Alexander Isak (Newcastle) - 8.86 

 

With a WhoScored rating of 8.86, Newcastle hitman Alexander Isak is our Premier League Player of the Week after his performance against Sheffield United. Isak’s brace against the Blades on Saturday saw him score in a seventh successive home league match, while it brought his tally of goals for the season to 19, a personal record. Isak also made two key passes and three successful dribbles in what was a fine all-round showing. 

 

Kai Havertz (Arsenal) - 8.53 

 

Arsenal’s Kai Havertz rounded off a brilliant week with a goal and an assist in Sunday’s North London derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, to make it four goal involvements in five days across games against Spurs and Chelsea. The Germany international won a total of eight aerial duels - equalling his most in a league game this season - while he also made two key passes and won two fouls on his way to a WhoScored rating of 8.53.
