Youth Watch: Hato excels in Ajax draw as Santos shines for Strasbourg

 

Youth Watch returns to take a look at the best rated teenagers across Europe the past weekend. A Barcelona sensation claims top spot this week, while Strasbourg, Burnley, Ajax and Feyenoord teens also shone as we run through the top 10. 

 

10. Wouter Goes (AZ Alkmaar) - 7.13 vs FC Volendam 

 

Wouter Goes put in another solid display for AZ Alkmaar, who earned a second successive 4-0 win, this time trouncing Eredivisie footers FC Volendam. Gous maximised his statistically calculated WhoScored strength of 'passing' in a dominant display, where he found a teammate with 90.5% of his 84 attempted passes. 

 

9. Savio (Girona) - 7.21 vs Getafe 

 

While Girona lost ground in the La Liga title race, Savio still put in another solid display despite a 1-0 loss at Getafe. The Brazilian was unfortunate not to register an assist having made four key passes, while an additional four dribbles saw him return a WhoScored rating of 7.21. 

 

8. Wilson Odobert (Burnley) - 7.31 vs Brentford 

 

Burnley claimed a vital win to keep their slim survival hopes alive as they beat Brentford 2-1 at Turf Moor on Saturday. Wilson Odobert provided the assist for David Datro Fofana's winning goal, that coming from one of three key passes in what was his fourth best rated performance of the Premier League season so far. 

 

7. Jorrel Hato (Ajax) - 7.34 vs Sparta Rotterdam 

 

While Ajax were forced to share the spoils with Sparta Rotterdam at the weekend, the 2-2 draw marked another sound display from Jorrel Hato. The Dutch teenager picked out a teammate with 95.3% of his 85 attempted passes and made six tackles in a sound showing. 

 

6. Kacper Urbanski (Bologna) - 7.51 vs Empoli 

 

Kacper Urbanski made just his sixth league start of the season in Bologna's 1-0 win at Empoli on Friday night. The Polish winger routinely tried his luck in the narrow victory, firing off five efforts on goal, while he also won eight aerial duels on his way to a WhoScored rating of 7.51. 

 

5. Yellu Santiago (Getafe) - 7.52 vs Girona 

 

Yellu Santiago marked his third league start of the season with his first goal of the campaign in Getafe's 1-0 win over Girona. The midfielder netted with his only effort, and made two tackles and one clearance in the narrow victory. 

 

4. Joao Neves (Benfica) - 7.69 vs Casa Pia AC 

 

Joao Neves was vital as Benfica claimed a hard-fought 1-0 win at Casa Pia AC on Sunday. Neves was unfortunate not to register an assist having made two key passes, while five tackles, two interceptions and one clearance secured a clean sheet for the Portuguese side and a WhoScored rating of 7.69 for the in-demand midfielder. 

 

3. Yankuba Minteh (Feyenoord) - 7.70 vs SC Heerenveen 

 

Making the top 10 once more, Yankuba Minteh provided his third assist of the season as Feyenoord claimed a 3-2 win at SC Heerenveen at the weekend. That assist came from one of two key passes, while three dribbles and three tackles saw the on-loan teen return a WhoScored rating of 7.70.

2. Andrey Santos (Strasbourg) - 7.71 vs Nantes 

 

On his first Ligue 1 start of the season, Andrey Santos excelled as Strasbourg beat Nantes 3-1 on Saturday. The Brazilian struggled gametime during his loan spell with Nottingham Forest but grabbed his chance to impress with both hands as he made four clearances, two tackles and one interception, while two dribbles and one key pass saw the 19-year-old land a WhoScored rating of 7.71.

The top rated teen in Europe this weekend, Pau Cubarsi continues to go from strength-to-strength in a Barcelona shirt.
