Manchester United outcast Sanchez set to miss remainder of 2019

Alexis Sanchez is set for a long spell on the sidelines after suffering a serious ankle injury away on international duty with Chile, report The Daily Mail.

The 30-year-old was forced off in the dying embers of Chile's fiercously contest friendly with Colombia on Saturday night.

Chile head coach Reinaldo Rueda later revealed Sanchez would miss their next match with Guinea and their Football Federation have confirmed the forward damaged tendons in his left ankle.

Sanchez has endured a nightmare run of injuries over the last 18 months and is now poised to miss the remainder of 2019.

Manchester United farmed Sanchez out to Serie A giants Inter on a season-long loan deal in the summer after running out of patience with his poor performances.

Sanchez scored on his full Inter debut before the international break before being sent off for two yellow cards.

Inter head coach Antonio Conte will now have to navigate through the rest of the first half of the season without one of his summer signings.

Sanchez has only made three league appearances for Inter this season and his lengthy absence will place a greater burden on Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez.

Since joining United from Arsenal in January 2018, Sanchez has scored just four goals in 35 league appearances.
