Manchester City right-back Pablo Zabaleta will join Inter for €1.9m (£1.5m) in the summer and the Premier League outfit will continue to pay his wages for a year, according to Daily Star On Sunday, via Football Italia.
Zabaleta, 31, still has another year to go on his current deal at City but has dropped down the pecking order this season and isn’t thought to feature significantly in Pep Guardiola’s plans going forward.
Serie A giants Inter are prepared to offer Zabaleta an escape route from the Etihad but only if City continue to pay his wages until the end of next season.
Roberto Mancini’s side have a good relationship with his former employers having structured a similarly complex deal that saw them sign Stevan Jovetic last summer.
Zabaleta has been a pillar of consistency for City down the years but having only made 12 starts in the league this season it would seem his eight-year City career is coming to an end.
