Liverpool agree £11.75m deal for new left-back

Liverpool have agreed a deal in principle to sign Olympiacos left-back Kostas Tsimikas for an £11.75m fee, claims The Guardian

Jurgen Klopp's side have moved swiftly to wrap up a deal for the Greece international after talks for Norwich's Jamal Lewis collapsed.

Liverpool had a £10m offer from Norwich rejected, with Daniel Farke's side holding out for double that amount.

The Premier League champions refused to be held to ransom over the Northern Ireland international and have instead moved their interest on.

Signing cover for Andrew Robertson is a top priority for Liverpool and now they just need to agree personal terms with Tsimikas, with a medical planned this week.

The 24-year-old, who will become the first Greek player at Liverpool since Sotirios Kyrgiakos, has spent the last five years with Olympiacos after breaking into the first-team set-up from the club's youth academy in 2015.

Tsimikas finished Olympiacos' 2019/20 European campaign as the club's best WhoScored rated player (7.17).

Moreover, no defender completed more dribbles than Tsimikas (14) in the group stage of the Champions League.
