Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has refused to rule out a sensational return to Borussia Dortmund in the future.
Gundogan, 25, joined City from Dortmund in a £25m deal over the summer after five years with the Bundesliga giants.
The Germany international was made to wait over a month to make his City debut after arriving with a knee injury but Gundogan is not adverse to the idea of returning to Dortmund.
“If it was the case in the next one or two years, I would probably not be happy about it,” he told Sport Bild when asked about the possibility of returning to BVB, via The Daily Mail.
“Because it would probably mean that I have failed or not developed myself. If I’m 29 or 30, I do not know [Dortmund would] still want me. Basically, I would not exclude the possibility, but now I have other big targets.
In his last two seasons in the Bundesliga no player won possession in the midfield third more times than Gundogan (237).
