Inter are preparing to match the €15m (£12.9m) release clause in Lucas Alario’s River Plate dal, according to Tuttomercatoweb, via Football Italia.
Frank de Boer’s side will reportedly meet with Alario’s agent, Pedro Aldave, in Milan on Thursday evening to discuss a potential deal.
Alario, 23, still has three years remaining on his existing deal with the Argentinean giants but they would be powerless to stopping him from leaving should Inter match his release clause.
The Argentine striker only joined River last summer in a deal worth €2m (£1.7m) after scoring 17 goals for Colon and his impressive start with life at River appears to have secured him a big move to Europe.
Alario managed six goals in 13 league appearances for River in the first half of the season and his conversion rate (22%) ranks among the best in Argentina (min five goals).
