Madrid reject Porto’s Casillas proposal

Real Madrid have rejected Porto’s approach for club legend goalkeeper Iker Casillas, according to Spanish paper AS.

Casillas, 34, is widely anticipated to leave the Santiago Bernabéu this summer after 25 years at the club with David De Gea’s arrival as his long-term successor thought to be imminent.

Spanish radio station RTVE had earlier reported the player was 99 per cent certain to make the surprise switch to Porto, however it is now understood that is not the case.

The Portuguese outfit are alleged to have made an approach for Casillas that involved Madrid meeting 100 per cent of the player’s salary demands, which Rafa Benitez’s side have rejected.

Casillas has been a stalwart for Real Madrid since he made his debut in 1999 and has gone on to win every major honour available to him. However, he has looked a shadow of his former self in the last few years, picking up some of his worst season ratings in the last six years, and looks certain to move on this summer.
