Monaco striker Radamel Falcao has revealed he wants to sign a new contract to extend his stay at the Ligue 1 club after enjoying a stunning return to form this season.
Falcao endured two miserable years on loan at Manchester United and Chelsea before returning to Monaco at the start of the season and the Colombia international has enjoyed an outstanding season for the Ligue 1 leaders.
The 31-year-old was heavily linked with a move to China in January but the Monaco striker now wants to extend his stay at the Principality Club.
“I feel very good here, my wife and girls too, at the club and in the town,” Falcao told L’Equipe, via Get French Football. “We have adapted, we have a great social life and everything around us allows my work to be the best.
“I am at peace here, since the start of the season, I hope that we will be able to continue to live here… If Monaco continues with the ambition to win titles in France and Europe, and that is why I came, I would be delighted to stay. Of course I would like to sign a contract extension.”
Falcao’s existing deal will only have 12 months left to run at the end of the current season and Leonardo Jardim’s side may look to secure his services for a little longer with a number of their star players being linked with big money moves to some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
El Tigre is their top goalscorer in Ligue 1 this season (19), enjoying his most productive league campaign in front of goal since netting 28 league goals for Atletico Madrid in the season that led to his big money move to Monaco in the summer of 2013.
