Barcelona have confirmed they have signed Groningen teenager Ludovit Reis on a three-year deal running until 2022.
Reis, 18, has joined Barcelona after the Spanish side triggered his €3.3m release clause and Ernesto Valverde’s side have an option to extend his stay by a further two seasons.
The Groningen midfielder has a release clause in his Barcelona contract set at €100m (£88.02m) but it’s unclear whether he will go straight into the first-team or spend time in the B squad.
Reis has been a first-team regular for Dutch side Groningen over the last two seasons, raking up 39 league starts, and has now complete his move to Camp Nou.
A move for the teenager has been in the pipeline for sometime at Barcelona but was only completed after Groningen were eliminated from the Eredivisie Europa League play-offs in midweek.
Despite his tender age, Reis has impressively made more tackles (114) than any other player in the Eredivisie this season.
Reis is the second addition Barcelona have made this summer, with Frenkie de Jong also arriving from Ajax to provide competition in midfield. Matthijs de Ligt and Antoine Griezmann are expected to follow through the doors in the coming weeks.
