Juventus plot Southampton raid for Dani Alves replacement

Juventus are set to offer Southampton £15m to convince the south coast side to cash in on Portugal international Cedric Soares, reports the Sun.

Soares is currently with the Portugal national team ahead of their Confederations Cup meeting with Chile and has impressed at the competition.

His exploits for Saints have not gone unnoticed, with Juventus planning on moving for the 25-year-old as a replacement for Dani Alves.

The experienced Brazilian is allowed to leave the Turin side this summer following just a solitary season with the Serie A champion, with Chelsea and Manchester City leading the race to secure his services.

Juventus will now test Saints’ resolve to keep Soares with a £15m bid, though the Premier League side could command a higher fee given his performances since joining in 2015.

The Portuguese right-back was a key player under first Ronald Koeman, then Claude Puel, with Saints keen to retain his services.

Newly appointed head coach Mauricio Pellegrino will also want to assess his squad first before sanctioning any possible sale, which would hinder Juventus’ pursuit of Soares.
