Barcelona defender sidelined for at least a month

Barcelona defender Nelson Semedo has been ruled out for at least four weeks with a hamstring injury, reports AS.

The 24-year-old was forced off in the staging stages of Barcelona’s 6-1 win over Girona on Saturday evening before being diagnosed with a hamstring injury.

Semedo will undergo further tests amid fears he has suffered a tear in his left hamstring but Barcelona expect to be without the right-back for at least a month.

The Portugal international will now miss Barcelona’s next five matches, including the second leg of their Champions League last 16 tie with Chelsea and a home league game against Atletico Madrid.

Semedo has been eased into life at Barcelona since joining from Benfica over the summer, only managing 11 league starts for Ernesto Valverde’s side.
