Arsenal make approach for Juventus striker

Arsenal will have to match Alvaro Morata’s staggering £61m release clause if they are to land the Juventus striker, claims TuttoSport.

Arsene Wenger’s men are reportedly rivalling Liverpool’s pursuit in the Spain international, but overcoming interest from former employers Real Madrid will prove their biggest obstacle.

The La Liga giants sold Morata to Juventus in 2014 but have first refusal on the striker if he becomes available and they have been linked with a move for their former starlet since the end of last season.

Reports suggest Madrid would only have to match the £23m buy-back clause they included in the deal to sell Morata, which represents something of a bargain compared to the £61m the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool would have to stump up.

The 23-year-old has struggled for first-team football this season and only has one goal in 19 league appearances this season and is currently behind Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic in the pecking order under Max Allegri.
