Milan could sign Premier League flop, admits president
AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi admits they could still make Mario Balotelli’s loan switch permanent at the end of the season.
Balotelli, 25, is currently on loan with the Serie A giants but has struggled with injuries making only two starts in the league this season.
Rumours emerged suggesting the former Inter striker had no future at the club after being dug out publicly by manager Sinisa Mihajlovic for his effort in a two-minute cameo against Genoa earlier this month.
However, Berlusconi has left the door open to Balotelli after hailing his physique and technical ability, and even hinted the club would make a ‘financial sacrifice’ to keep him.
“He’s got an extraordinary gift of physical strength and technique, but he still needs to mature, particularly in terms of his behaviour in life,” the Milan president told 7Gold television, via Gazzetta dello Sport. “We’ve also not managed to get him playing in the right position on the field.
“He’s a striker yet he’s always spending time out on the wings. If these things should change, as the coach has assured me they will, then we would be very happy to make a financial sacrifice and keep him with us."
Balotelli has not scored a league goal from open play since February 2015 when at Liverpool (vs Spurs).
