Atletico Madrid interested in Palermo striker

Atletico Madrid have sent scouts to monitor the progress of Palermo striker Ilija Nestorovski for the remainder of the season, reports Calciomercato, via Football Italia.

Nestorovski, who turns 27 next month, only joined the Serie A strugglers from Croatian side Inter Zapresic last summer in a deal worth a measly €500,000.

However, the Macedonia international has excelled for Palermo this season and has now caught the eye of Spanish giants Atletico.

Diego Simone’s side are not the only Spanish side reportedly interested in his services, with Sevilla also poised to have scouts watching his performances over the course of the remainder of the season.

Palermo have already put a €15m (£12.8m) price tag on his head in a bid to ward off interest from their European rivals, although their stance could be forced to change if they are relegated to Serie B, which they are expected to do.

Despite the fact Palermo have only won three games all season, Nestorovski has still weighed in with an impressive tally of nine goals - five more than any other teammate and almost half of their season tally in the league (47.4%).
