Andy Carroll forcing through Chelsea move

Andy Carroll has told West Ham he is unable to train due to an ankle injury but scan results conducted by the club’s medical team have revealed no problems, claims The Daily Mirror.

The 29-year-old has emerged as a surprise transfer target for Chelsea this month but the defending Premier League champions are yet to lodge a formal bid for the striker.

Carroll still has 18 months left to run on his existing deal but the Hammers are open to selling the injury-prone striker as David Moyes looks to revamp the club’s offensive options.

However, the former England international is now at risk of souring his West Ham career as it has now appears the striker is looking to force through a move to Stamford Bridge.

Carroll has only scored two Premier League goals this season and it would be a huge shock if Chelsea wrapped up a deal for the West Ham No.9.

Of players that have featured in at least five Premier League matches this season, only Peter Crouch (1 every 6.5 minutes of action) and Sam Vokes (every 8.9 minutes of action) win an aerial duel more frequently than Carroll (every 9.6 minutes).
