Tottenham have entered the race to sign Lyon midfielder and Arsenal target Houssem Aouar, according to French football expert Julien Laurens.
Arsenal were credited with an interest in the France international last summer, but a transfer failed to materialise and the Gunners elected to move for Thomas Partey instead.
However, Arsenal have a long-standing interest in Aouar and have been monitoring the Lyon midfielder for the last 12 months.
Now, north London rivals Tottenham are expected to compete with Arsenal for the 23-year-old this summer now, with Spurs, like the Gunners, expected to undergo a major rebuild this summer.
Spurs have previous dealings with Lyon having brought Hugo Lloris and Tanguy Ndombele from France to England in the past and they are reportedly keen to return to the Ligue 1 side for Aouar in the transfer window.
Aouar struggled for regular game time for Lyon last season, making just 23 league starts for the French side as they finished fourth in France's top tier.
Spurs are yet to make any new signings following the respective appointments of Fabio Paratici and Nuno, but are expected to confirm the arrival of Takehiro Tomiyasu before too long.
