Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has rejected the chance to leave the north London side for Lyon this month, reports Sky Sports Germany.

Hojbjerg has been linked with a move away from Spurs following Ange Postecoglou's appointment last summer though he has still made 20 appearances under the Australian in the Premier League this season.

However, Spurs are in the market for a new central midfielder ahead of this week's January transfer deadline with Chelsea's Conor Gallagher the club's number one target.

If Spurs are able to add another midfielder this week then they will entertain offers for Hojbjerg.

The Denmark international won't be joining Lyon, however, with the former Southampton and Bayern Munich man rejecting the chance to move to the French side.

Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Napoli have all been credited with an interest in Hojbjerg this month with the 28-year-old open to a new challenge.

Lyon, who sit 16th in Ligue 1, have been active in the market in January, with former Chelsea and Roma man Nemanja Matic joining the club from Rennes this month.
