AC Milan ready move for Chelsea defender

AC Milan want to sign Andreas Christensen from Chelsea after growing frustrated in their pursuit of Barcelona's Jean-Clair Todibo, reports the London Evening Standard.

The Serie A giants are desperate to sign a new centre-back this summer and are in advanced talks with Barcelona over Todibo's signature.

However, Todibo is unsure whether he wants to join Milan without a buy-back clause in place and talks have stalled as a result, with Schalke now favourites.

Milan are nown considering alternatives and have already been linked with Atalanta's Simon Kjaer.

It has now emerged Milan have set their sights on signing Christensen, who has failed to cement a regular starting berth under Frank Lampard this season.

The Denmark international's career has stalled in recent years after a promising season under Antonio Conte in 2017/18.

Christensen has been limited to just eight league starts this season and has dropped further down the pecking order since Antonio Rudiger's return to fitness.

Chelsea have also been linked with a move to re-sign Nathan Ake this month, which will likely depend whether Christensen leaves.

Of players that have started a league game for Chelsea this season, Christensen has the best pass success rate at the club (91.6%).
