Leicester announce Ndidi signing

Leicester City have announced they have completed a deal to sign Wilfred Ndidi from Belgian side Genk pending a work permit.

Ndidi, 20, has agreed personal terms with the reigning Premier League champions on a five-and-a-half-year deal that ties him to the club until 2022.

The 20-year-old central midfielder has been hugely impressive in the Europa League this season and his ability to break down play and cover ground has already seen him compared to former Blue N’Golo Kante.

Claudio Ranieri’s side have struggled to fill the hole left by Kante since he left to join Chelsea in the summer and Leicester will be hoping the Nigeria international can carry out the role that Kante excelled at.

Leicester have reportedly paid £15m for the Genk midfielder’s services, making him the second most expensive player in their history.

Ndidi is currently the second highest rated player in the Europa League (8.19) and has completed the most tackles and interceptions combined in the competition (71).
