Bamford’s exploits on Riverside looked to have earned him a place in Jose Mourinho’s squad next season, but it has now been decided his development will be away from Stamford Bridge with Diego Costa, Loïc Remy and Radamel Falcao all higher in the pecking order than the England U’21 international.

Instead, Bamford will now be competitng for starting places alongside Marouane Chamakh, Glenn Murray, Dwight Gayle and Fraizer Campbell at Palace.
