RB Leipzig reduce asking price for Manchester United target

RB Leipzig have knocked €20m (£17.5m) off their valuation of Dayot Upamecano, claims Bild.

Upamecano has just over 12 months left to run on his current deal and Leipzig will be forced to cash in on the young defender if he turns down their offer of a new contract.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for Upamecano in recent weeks, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to sign another new centre-back at the end of the season.

Bayern Munich have reportedly also been in contact with Upamecano's entourage but have reportedly cooled their pursuit as they prioritise the signing of Leroy Sane and a new right-back.

Leipzig were initially holding out for €60m (£52.4m) for Upamecano but have reportedly now lowered their asking price to just €40m (£34.9m).

However, there are conflicting reports whether Upamecano will actually leave Leipzig this summer.

It was claimed last week Upamecano had agreed a new deal with Leipzig that would allow him to develop for another season before leaving in 2021.

After a frustrating 2018/19 campaign, Upamecano has bounced back as one of the best defenders in Europe's top five leagues this season.

In fact, only Virgil van Dijk (7.40) has garnered a higher WhoScored rating than the Leipzig starlet (7.23) of all centre-backs.
