Barcelona confident of £45m deal for Arsenal defender

Barcelona will rekindle their interest in Hector Bellerin this summer and make a proper push to bring the Arsenal defender back to the Camp Nou in a £45m deal, reports The Independent.

The La Liga giants earmarked Bellerin as one of the players they were interested in making Dani Alves’ long-term replacement last summer, but the right-back remained at Arsenal before signing a new six-and-a-half-year deal in November.

However, the Spain international has endured a difficult campaign and even lost his place in the team to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain towards the end of the season and Ernesto Valverde’s side want to get a deal concluded by the end of June.

Arsene Wenger is aware of the fact there could be a high turnover of players at Arsenal this summer and wants to limit the outgoings to as few as possible, which means Barcelona want to get this deal sorted sooner rather than later.

Despite the fact Bellerin is more receptive to returning to his boyhood club, Barcelona are not interested in being dragged into a drawn-out transfer saga and will turn their attentions to Benfica right-back Nelson Semedo if the deal proves too difficult early on.

In the last two Premier League campaigns only Mesut Ozil (28) and Alexis Sanchez (14) have provided more assists for Arsenal than Bellerin (9).
