West Ham eye £10m bid for Newcastle midfielder

West Ham manager David Moyes wants to hand Jonjo Shelvey a route back to London and is prepared to offer £10m for the Newcastle midfielder next month, reports The Daily Mirror.

Shelvey spent two years at the West Ham youth academy before joining Charlton in 2004 and later turning professional with Addicks four years later.

The 25-year-old has spent almost his entire professional career outside of London but now Moyes wants to lure the former England international back to where it all started for the Romford-born player.

Shelvey has endured a difficult season for Newcastle and has struggled to completely win over manager Rafa Benitez.

The Newcastle manager would consider selling Shelvey if he was given assurances that he would be able to sufficiently replace the midfielder.

Shelvey is the only player that has been sent off more than once in the Premier League this season.
