West Ham poised to break club-transfer record

West Ham will break their club-transfer record to sign Stoke forward Marko Arnautovic, reports the London Evening Standard.

The Hammers have already had two bids rejected for the Stoke ace but are now on the verge of making him the club’s most expensive-ever player in a £23m deal.

Arnautovic submitted a formal transfer request last week and is now on the brink of leaving the Potters as all parties come towards a conclusion that suits all.

Despite suffering a knee injury in pre-season with Stoke earlier this month, the 28-year-old is set to undergo his West Ham medical in the coming days before joining Slaven Bilic’s side.

West Ham have already signed Manchester City duo Pablo Zabaleta and Joe Hart this summer and are also on the verge of signing former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez from Bayer Leverkusen in a £13m deal.

The Austria international has created more chances than any other Stoke player in each of his three Premier League campaigns to date (191 in total).
