Belgium national team manager Marc Wilmots claims Vincent Kompany is ruled out for up to eight weeks with a calf problem, reports Sky Sports.
Kompany, 29, has been plagued with calf problems since he joined City in 2008, but they have been particularly bad this season restricting him to just 12 league starts.
The Belgium international has lasted just six minutes of their Champions League match against Dynamo Kyiv on Tuesday before breaking down and hobbling off. He now looks set to be ruled out for two months and is a huge doubt for the Euros this summer.
Kompany’s absence has particularly hampered City’s title challenge. Their defence has looked extremely vulnerable without him organising the back four. In fact, City have only scored three league goals with their captain in the starting XI, compared to conceding 1.47 goals per game without him in the team.
