Arsenal monitoring progress of Belgian hot shot

Arsenal are monitoring the progress of Genk striker Leandro Trossard but will not be making a move for the player in January, the Mirror reports.

That is, at least, according to the players agent Josy Comhair, who claims he has spoken with both the Gunners and Tottenham and received confirmation from the former that the 23-year-old is on their radar.

"They (Arsenal) told me Leandro has a very interesting profile for them and that they’ve been following him since August”, Comhair stated.

Genk manager Philippe Clement said of his star striker: "I'm not afraid Trossard is leaving, it was not so easy to keep him last summer, but we talked.

"Normally no players leaves in January. 100 million is something else, but 25 million is not enough for Trossard to leave in January."

The Belgian fired his club to the Europa League group stages in qualifying and has scored in both of his appearances in the competition proper, operating from the left flank.

He has a further nine goals in 12 league appearances this season and his ability to operate from wide as well as leading the line may well be what appeals to Arsenal following the serious injury suffered by Danny Welbeck.
