Valencia will be without Alvaro Negredo for a month after the former Manchester City striker had an operation on his appendix.
Negredo, 30, has fallen severely out of favour with Valencia head coach Nuno Gomes this season and has failed to feature in any of their last six matches in all competitions.
The former Spain international went to hospital after suffering from discomfort in his stomach before being operated on and will now face a spell of at least four weeks out and is unlikely to appear in this calendar year.
Valencia fans have been angered by Negredo’s lack of involvement up to now and will have to settle without their star striker for even longer. No Valencia player is winning per aerial duels per game than Negredo in La Liga this season (4).
