Leicester boss hints at reunion with Paris Saint-Germain outcast

New Leicester manager Claude Puel has hinted at a January reunion with Paris Saint-Germain outcast Hatem Ben Arfa.

Ben Arfa joined PSG on a free transfer more than 12 months ago but his time with the Ligue 1 giants has been nothing short of a disaster.

The former France international is destined to leave PSG in January after being frozen out by manager Unai Emery and Puel has praised the 30-year-old’s ability.

“Hatem is someone I appreciate equally as a player and a person,” The Sun quote Puel as saying. “For me it’s important right now to really get to know my squad, and then I can turn to the transfer window.

“The first thing for me is to look at the players I have, and to respect them, but then we will see. I don’t have any concerns about Hatem’s form.”

Puel worked wonders with Ben Arfa at Nice two seasons ago and helped the former Newcastle flop play some of the best football of his career.

It helped Ben Arfa secure a move to PSG but the transfer has not panned out as hoped and now the tricky attacker looks destined to leave the Parc des Princes in the New Year.

Despite the fact Ben Arfa has only started five Ligue 1 games since the start of last season, he has still completed more dribbles than any other Ligue 1 player since August 2015, illustrating how good he was under Puel (195).
