Alejandro Gomez has revealed he will only leave Atalanta if he receives an offer he cannot refuse this summer.
The 29-year-old has enjoyed a phenomenal campaign for Atalanta this season and has put Gian Piero Gasperini’s side on the brink of European football for next season.
Gomez’s current deal isn’t due to expire until 2020 and the uncapped Argentine has revealed only an offer he could not refuse would prize him away from the Serie A side.
“We wanted to win and had the chances to do it, so the draw is disappointing, but on the other hand it was against a tough side like Milan,” he told Mediaset Premium, via Football Italia after their 1-1 draw at the weekend.
“In moments of difficulty, you could see the strength and character of this group. We’ve had a fantastic season; we’ve done much better than many more prestigious clubs and fully deserved to qualify for Europe.
“I have a contract with Atalanta. It’s true that at my age I dream of a big club, but unless I receive an offer I can’t refuse, I am staying here.”
Only Edin Dzeko (7.78) has secured a higher WhoScored rating in Serie A this season than Gomez (7.75), who has played a direct hand in 25 goals for Atalanta this season (14 goals, 10 assists).
Not only that, but Gomez has won the most WhoScored Man of the Match awards in Italy’s top-flight this season (10).
