Burnley are considering a move for Swansea midfielder Jack Cork following the Swans' capture of Roque Mesa from Las Palmas, reports Inside Welsh Football.
Cork joined Swansea from Southampton in 2015, but could find first team opportunities hard to come by in the coming campaign due to the raft of competition for a starting spot.
Manager Paul Clement is able to call on the likes of Mesa, Ki Sung-yueng, Tom Carroll and Leon Britton in the middle of the park, which could hinder Cork’s playing time.
The 28-year-old’s last start of the season came in April and made just two appearances after Swansea’s 1-0 loss to West Ham, both from the bench, due to injury.
Burnley are believed to have entered the race to sign Cork, with manager Sean Dyche looking to bring in another central midfielder this summer.
Dyche is weary of being caught short in the middle of the park following Joey Barton’s 18-month suspension for gambling related offences and was released by the club in May.
Burnley have also been linked with moves for Glenn Whelan and James McArthur as Dyche aims to strengthen.
